Wine Club - THAI

Wine Club June 4, 2010 Theme : THAI Host : Julie Company: Andrea, Shereen, Reem, Jennifer Served : Spring rolls, cucumber salad, green curry, cashew chicken and jasmine rice. Wine #1 : Flat Rock Cellars: Twisted (blend of Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Chardonnay) 2008, VQA Niagara Peninsula, $16.95 Very good, not too sweet. Hints of passionfruit, grapefruit, pear… nice blend. Good on its own, but also paired well with the cashew chicken. Wine #2 : Chablis “Maison Kerlann”, France, Bourgogne, Vintages - $21.95 Very light, too acidic, a disappointing match for thai food, might work with a smelly cheese Wine #3 : Baden Gewurztraminer, Germany, $10.95 Like nectar – everyone enjoyed this wine, would buy again . Good match with thai. Wine #4 : Gamay Noir, “Moulin à Vent” Domaine de Grand Garant, Vintages $16.95 Smells wonderful, smokey, a bit weak - better with spicy food than on its own, smells like peonies, “dusty dry”, not overly memorable
