Lesson of the evening: Great website for researching wines and comments (with LCBO wines): www.winealign.com

Wine #1: Lindemans Bin 85 Pinot Grigio 2011
Pinot Grigio Australia
$9.95 (668947)

Tasting Note
pale straw colour; melon, soft tangerine and citrus aromas; dry, medium body; apricot and citrus flavour with clean, refreshing finish
Serving Suggestion
serve with grilled chicken and creamy pasta
Comments: Nice starter, cheap easy "go-to" wine
Wine # 2: François Schwach Le Crémant Blanc De Blancs 2007, Ac Alsace

Sparkling White Alsace, France
$18.95 (268060)

Made in the traditional method, this fizz from Alsace uses Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Look for pleasingly soft mousse, with notes of sweet peach, apple, bread dough, a touch of honey and a hint of spice. Medium bodied with a lingering finish. Enjoy as a palate-refresher, or match it tonight with grilled seafood. Or, if you wish to enjoy it for brunch, then pair it with eggs Benedict. (VINTAGES panel, May 2011)
Comments: paired well with greek salad
Wine # 3:  Languedoc Roussillon (Midi), France

$15.95 (669531)

This Viognier has a yellow-gold color and perfumed aromas of stone fruit. On the palate it offers very ripe flavors of golden apple and lemon custard. It has a creamy mouth feel and a dry finish. Score: 89 (Mike Potashnik & Don Winkler, i-winereview.com, March 5, 2012)
Comments: – very good! paired well with the chicken brochettes

Wine # 4: Mommessin Les Griottes Morgon 2010, Ac

Beaujolais Beaujolais, France
$17.95 (276402)

Griottes are a type of bitter cherry used in cooking, and this wine shares some of that character. It is firmly structured with acidity and an edge of attractive lightness. Age for 2-3 years. Score: 91 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 2011).
Comments: ok, but wouldn’t buy again
Wine # 5: Chanson Pére & Fils Le Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2009, Bourgogne

Pinot Noir Burgundy, France
$17.95 (50575)

Comments: This wine was fantastic, best of the night.  Went very well with the greek food (served with chicken and potatoes) – will buy again.
