BURGER TOPPINGS and WINE PAIRINGS
Grilled pineapple, sweet basil and sweet mustard - Estancia 2008 Pinnacles Ranches Chardonnay (California) ($19.95 - #0075614) - Brilliant straw-yellow colour leads to fine tropical fruit, toast and pear aromas. Dry with excellent aroma replays on the palate. Wonderful intensity and a long finish give this wine a brilliant sign-off. Light and flavourful with tropical fruit, vanilla and a touch nutty. (4/5)

Avocado, cucumber and sprouts - Astrolabe Voyage Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (New Zealand) ($19.95 - #0010421) - Concentrated wine with a mix of passion fruit, mineral and tomato leaf flavours. Impeccably balanced and with a lingering finish that won't quit. Score 95.
Grilled white onions and sautéed mushrooms with Swiss cheese - Rocca Delle Macie 2006 Tenuta Sant’Alfonso Chianti Classico (Tuscany) ($21.95 - #0942094) - leathery, herbal, cassis and oaky. An alcohol-rich nose of bottled fruit liqueur and a rounded, mouth filling, intense palate with heady, dry, spicy finishes. (4/5)
Black pepper, Danish blue cheese and hot mustard - Marquis Philips Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 (South Australia) ($18.95 - #167197) - The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is purple/black-colored with a nose of toasty black currants, spice box, and licorice. Velvety, sweet, and opulent on the palate, it has plenty of concentration, enough structure for balance, and a pure, fruit-filled finish. Score - 90.
